Where do I begin with my interior design project? |
- Begin with your color choices, design ideas, a comfortable budget and a realistic time frame.
- Write down the functions your space will have.
- Write down what you do and don't like about your living space.
- Look at magazines; pull out samples of colors, styles and designs you want to incorporate within your space. Items like these can help guide your designer to create the design you are looking for.(The more your designer knows the better!)
|
How do I choose a designer? |
- Contact your local Chamber of Commerce to look for designers in your area.(Less travel time for your designer will lower your costs.)
- Call and ask questions....Is there a licensed Designer on staff? Do they have a website? Do they have a showroom and warehouse? Can you see a recent portfolio?
- Find out how many designers are on staff. More designers in house means more time they have to design you.

- A Licensed Designer knows the codes required and is responsible for upholding those requirements.
- A Licensed Designer had the capacity to move non-bearing walls within a space.
- A decorator does not need any educational experiance or exam.
- A decorator cannot move any walls either load bearing or non load bearing.
- Anyone who enjoys decor can call themselves a decorator.
